The Pattis Family Foundation Emerging Artist Fund at Brevard Music Center

The Pattis Family Foundation Emerging Artists Fund at Brevard Music Center awards approximately 10-20 project-based grants each year, ranging from$1,000 to $2,500 each.  The grants empower alumni to pursue creative projects, professional development and critical equipment/resources for career development.

Each year, award recipients are selected through a rigorous and competitive application process run by Brevard Music Center.  Eligible candidates are alumni of three-week programs or greater who attended BMC within the past ten years.  Instrumentalists, composers and vocalists are eligible to participate and must propose a project or initiative and outline the needed financial support.  Funds can be used to underwrite creative projects such as performances, recordings, compositions or innovative musical collaborations, for professional development such as fees for conferences, lessons, masterclasses or certifications or equipment/resources such as purchase of instruments, software or other essential tools.

The first cohort of 15 grant recipients in 2026 produced a debut album for flute quartet, purchased a new bow, a new teaching bassoon and a professional horn, performed a new piano quartet and a new opera, commissioned BMC alumni composers for a ragtime project, and conducted masterclass workshops.

We can’t wait to see what these emerging artists do next and what the next cohort will bring!
